A standard buildings and contents policy from Virgin home insurance will cover you against loss or damage caused by storm or flood, fire, escape of water; theft or attempted theft, malicious damage or vandalism, collision, subsidence, heave or landslip. You can purchase additional cover through Virgin for risks such as accidental damage to buildings or contents, or ‘all risks’, which covers belongings being worn or used away from home; clothing, jewellery, watches, sports equipment, etc.

Virgin's buildings insurance policy offers alternative accommodation if your home is uninhabitable due to an insured peril, up to a total of £20,000, and up to 90 days' cover on both properties when moving house.

Property owners' third-party liability, up to £2m is included, along with legal liability for any properties owned, and ‘home emergency’ to cover the cost of emergency repairs.

Your contents are replaced new for old with a Virgin home insurance policy, and accidental damage for non-portable electrical/gas appliances such as television, video, audio, home computer equipment and microwaves are included under their standard policy.

Contents in the open within the property's boundaries (excluding storm or flood damage) are insured up to £500, along with items temporarily removed from the home up to £5,000. Money is insured up to £300, credit cards up to £500, guests’ personal effects up to £250, personal liability in and out of the home insures you for up to £2m, and loss of heating oil or water up to £750.
